The joy of the day – accidentally via Twitter we found out that our flashmob from last year - featuring 1st Flash Mob Folk Dance in one of Riga's main squares - has been rated among top 15 worldwide by social media geeks Mashable!
A flash mob is defined by Wikipedia as “a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and pointless act for a brief time, then quickly disperse.”Social media has greatly aided the organization of such events, and proof of their existence has been caught on camera only to go viral online via sites like youtube
The background of this was that it was also our own little present to Riga, and it was done in times of crisis to spread the joy and making Latvians a bit proud of the nation they belong to

Also I love some of the comments from YouTube users:
- Fantastic! Best Flash Mob ever, more please
- If only politics was this good in Latvia
- I love this so much -- all the boring dances I was forced to learn as a kid -- and now I see people actually enjoying them in the way they were meant to be performed... spontaneously and joyously
