What a day day 2 have been. We started earlier with an 815 team meeting at the booth and by 930 we were already in frenetic move. Lots of meeting ( a couple of very good meetings with operators from the –stan republics to start with),
our CTO wondering around and coming up with lots of ideas on the technology side, meet a couple of interesting Swedish companies on our trip to meet the team of internet city in Sweden, a very interesting initiative to concentrate university, public and private companies (we hope to participate on the catwalk show this coming September) and so on
There were a couple of very interesting announcements as the next Android phone (HTC Magic is called so far) which Vodafone should be commercializing this spring. I have been playing a bit more with Android while here and the OS is really good so if the form factor improves (and pictures and mock ups look like it will) it could be a hit in the market in my opinion (will not have the hype that apple does but remember developers love for open source platforms and how they could be launching very powerful propositions within the android device family. Also the “one-size-fits-all” charger may prove an industry revolution (and hopefully a greener orientation in the future. Finally the discussion between Alierta (Telefonica CEO), Vittorio (Vodafone) and the CEO from Telenor was quite interesting and revealing on each one personalities
Had the chance to meet up with many INSEAD colleagues at the “informally” organized dinner that Hugh Sheeny (frog2frog former executive and now board member and now in Google) puts together every year. Lots of interesting conversation and had some interesting discussions about Spanish business culture and some intro to some Spanish VCs
We ended up the day with the mmCHANNEL & mmC Group party. We manage to pull together more than 80 people from some of our partners or potential ones (Unkasoft, frog2frog, general mobile, digital jokers, global fun, oh la la mobile and more) some former colleagues from “Cluster”. Lots of fun, catching up and getting some sleep (little) at the end of the day
Bittor (our head of content) went home this morning (lots of customers waiting for some of his updates) and Fran from his team is now here. The rest (Pedro, Marc, Dani and Tunc) will keep meeting clients, prospects, content providers and potential partners
Starting day 3 now, can’t wait
BTW Our new speakers at the booth have proven to be a very good investment ☺
